Uncapped players have always shown their prowess in IPL. From Karn Sharma to Krunal Pandya to Rahul Sharma to Sudeep Tyagi, many of the uncapped players have made their mark in IPL and have also made it to the Indian team riding on their form in IPL.
Of course, they also get a big amount of money on the auction day.
Talking of this year’s auction, let’s have few of the uncapped prospects who might draw big deal on the auction day:
Krunal Pandya – Once again, Pandya is expected to draw big amount in the IPL auction. In the two years he spent with Mumbai Indians, Pandya did well and scored 480 runs and took 16 wickets. Pandya has already made it to India A team riding on his IPL exploits and he is expected to draw a big amount.
There are high chances of Mumbai Indians retaining him. Pandya is expected to highlight the auction by emerging out – the highest paid uncapped player.
Dhruv Shorey – A late entrant to domestic cricket, Shorey has hit a purple patch this season. He drew attention by scoring a century in the final of the Ranji Trophy, and he has continued great run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Shorey has scored 270 runs in five innings games and will be on the radar of IPL teams.
One of the most striking acts of his batting is he takes the responsibility. In most of the matches; he has pulled out his team from difficult situations, which would have been surely noticed by the IPL scouts.
Prithvi Shaw – The captain of the India U-19 team went unsold in the last auction but this year, he is expected to be one of the biggest buys this time. Shaw has done well this season and his five centuries in nine first-class games shows that he is a player of different class. The way he played pace bowlers like Ishant Sharma and Pankaj Singh during Duleep Trophy impressed many and he continued his form in the season.
In the ongoing World Cup, Shaw has scored 151 runs in two innings. In the second game of the tournament, he went on to score 57 runs out of 65 runs needed to win. The youngster will be one of the uncapped players to look out for in the IPL auction.
Deepak Hooda – The young all-rounder has already made it to the Indian squad riding on his exploits in IPL. He will surely be one of the biggest guys in IPL due to the fact that he also possesses experience of leading a team in first-class and T20 format.
In 2016 auction, when Hooda was yet to make his mark, he drew a deal of Rs 4.2 Crore and now, when he is an established player, Hooda is expected to break few records on the auction day.
In all, he has played 41 IPL games in which he has scored 373 runs and has also scalped six wickets.
Basil Thampi – With his toe-crushing yorkers, Thampi made it to the Indian cricket team for the series against Sri Lanka. Thampi can bowl yorkers on demand, a quality which can see him getting a big IPL contract.
Last year, he was bought for Rs 85 Lakh by Gujarat lions and this year, he is expected to bag a much higher amount than the previous one as he is now a renowned player, who has made it to the national side too.
