Australia’s limited overs specialist, Aaron Finch, recently enlisted the difference between playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Big Bash League (BBL).

This time around, the stockily built player is all set to represent the Kings XI Punjab along with the likes of KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Marcus Stoinis and many other stars.

Preity Zinta and co. bought the services of Finch for the upcoming seasons of IPL for a price of INR 6.2 crores. The number four ranked T20I batsman is recently coming off a successful campaign in the Trans Tasman T20I Tri-series.

The conditions, more games and more travel in the IPL  set the two T20 leagues apart. Obviously, there are more international players available. Playing in the IPL, the standard is higher and it’s the ultimate test for a T20 player,” commented Aaron Finch according to Sportstar.

Also with the fixturing in Australia, the international fixture overlaps, so we lose some of the Australian players for sections of the BBL,” Finch added.

“Each time there is a settling in the period, however, I know so many of the players from playing with or against them in the past so it’s never too daunting,” continued the Australian.

Finch captains Melbourne Renegades in Australia’s premier T20 tournament. The limited-over giant also represented the Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions, Pune Warriors. Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

All teams have been welcoming and you feel part of it very quickly. In regards to preparation, it doesn’t change too much year to year. I just make sure I’m ready and refreshed when I arrive,” suggested the 31-year old.

The Victorian was the standout batsman for Australia the last time they toured for an ODI series. His mammoth knock of 124 lit up the Holkar Stadium at Indore while his 94 at Chinnaswamy helped the Australians clinch an important victory.

Despite being a regular in the ODIs and T20Is since making his debut in 2011, the Baggy Green for Finch remains bereft. However, the goal for Finch still is making a debut in the whites for Australia, despite being out of favour.

Getting a baggy green remains a goal – it’s something that I have always aspired to achieve. Whilst I’m performing for Australia in other formats, I would hope that opportunity is still present,” stated the T20 Player of the Year award for Australia during the Allan Border Medal ceremony.

Finch ended by claiming that given the amount Australians and Indians spend off-late, there exists a certain camaraderie between the players of the two team. Aaron Finch went ahead and quoted that India is like a home away from home.

Given the amount of time we spend in India and the friendships, you develop with your team-mates. India is like a second home in many ways. I love coming back. I’ve been fortunate enough to play for a few of the IPL franchises. As such, I have lived in various cities so I feel comfortable here and have friends across the country,” concluded the 31-year old.
