Yuvraj Singh is undoubtedly one of the best players in limited overs cricket, India has ever produced. He has been the go-to man for Men in Blue in big games and big tournaments, the southpaw played an important role in India’s triumph in 2007 as well as in 2011.

The 35-year-old has been in the news recently, for failing the Yo-Yo test. Though former Indian cricketer, Anshuman Gaekwad feels that the flamboyant batsman still can clear any test.

“Fitness has become one of the most important things in world cricket. There is no reason why Yuvraj cannot pass the yo-yo test. The likes of Ashish Nehra, who is older than Yuvraj, has passed it, then why not Yuvi?,” said Gaekwad

Served as a national coach twice previously, Gaekwad said fitness test is not the only issue Yuvraj Singh has to overcome to get back into the team. He emphasized that Yuvi needs to score big runs in the ongoing domestic cricket to attract selector’s attention towards him.

“At present, the Indian team is a settled unit. Even a player like Ajinkya Rahane has not been picked for the T20 contest, explaining the strength of the Indian team. Even if Yuvraj Singh passes the fitness test, he will have to wait for his time. Yuvraj will have to score quality runs in the domestic cricket to get the India team call-up,” He added.

Yuvraj has missed the first Ranji game but it is expected that he will be a part of the team for the second game and he will look to get some runs under his belt before the New Zealand series starts later this month.

Meanwhile, India have gone one-up in the three-match T20I series with a nine-wicket win via DLS method in a rain-affected game in Ranchi.
