BBL: James Pattinson signs two-year deal with Brisbane Heat

Australian fast bowler James Pattinson has signed up the two-year contract with the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Brisbane Heat. The pace gun has been marred by multiple injuries in the recent past.

Owing to the next edition of BBL, Pattinson is delighted to feature in the Heat’s fold.

“I’m looking forward to working with Dan [Daniel Vettori] and playing alongside Brendon McCullum and Chris Lynn and the rest of the boys,’’ Pattinson said in a release.

Heat has snatched up of the speedster Pattinson in order to beef up the pace bowling stock. He has a chance to shine on while donning Brisbane colours in the next installment of the T20 league.

The 27-year-old right-arm fast bowler Pattinson is bound to feature in the eighth edition of the cash-rich professional Twenty20 domestic league.

While believing in a fresh start, Pattinson reiterated the support for Heat at home has been massive. He is equally excited to roll over the arm.

“But joining the Heat represents a fresh start and one I am really looking forward too,” Pattinson said.

Earlier, the Victorian paceman has featured for Melbourne Stars before turning to play for Renegades.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities I have had with the Renegades, and before them the Stars, and I thank them for the great support they have provided me over the seasons,” Pattinson remarked.

Moreover, the Head coach for Heat, Vettori remarked they are looking forward to make an improvement. He added Pattinson is the one who could do his bit in the squad.

“We identified some areas where we needed to improve on from last season, and James will help us deliver on some of that,” AAP quotes Vettori.

Pattinson remained out of the competition due to a long-standing back injury. He is concurrently undergoing a massive rehabilitation programme, in order to regain full fitness.

However, former New Zealand skipper Vettori hints Pattinson could turn the tide for heat.

“James at his best is a handful for any batting side and we believe he will add another dimension to our club,” Vettori maintained.

From the injury to surgery and road to recovery, James Pattinson had to endure a lot.

In 2017, Pattinson had undergone a surgery in New Zealand. It simultaneously kept him out of the fascinating league for the seventh edition.

“I’m feeling very good physically after the surgery and I’m looking forward to getting back into some bowling during the winter,” Pattinson concludes.

Pattinson featured in 17 Tests and 15 One-day Internationals and four T20Is for Australia, so far. He made his international debut in April 2011, against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
