Former England cricketer David Lloyd accredited Kevin Pietersen as the best English batsman he has ever seen.

Meanwhile, Pietersen called time on his playing career after playing his last match for Quetta Gladiators, as he will not travel to Pakistan for the knockout games of the Pakistan Super League.

Pietersen has had an illustrious career with England, scoring tons of runs for them. Also, he is England’s highest run-scorers combining all formats including 8181 runs in 104 Tests. He was left out of the team surprisingly in the wake of a disastrous 5-0 loss in the Ashes in 2013/14.

Since then, Pietersen had played white-ball cricket across the globe. South Africa-born Pietersen had played for Delhi Daredevils and Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL, Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash, St Lucia Stars in the Caribbean and Sunfoil Dolphins in South Africa, as well as with Surrey.

Lloyd lauds Pietersen:

In a question-answer session on Twitter, a fan asked Lloyd about his favourite English batsman. Lloyd without a hesitation named Pietersen as the best English batsmen to play the game.

“Pietersen,” Lloyd answered in a short tweet.

Meanwhile, the 70-year old Lloyd had played nine Tests, and eight ODI matches for England. In his short stint, he had an impressive average. Lloyd scored at a rate of 42.46 in Tests, and 40.71 in ODIs. He also had seven and three wickets, respectively.
