Kiwi frontline spinner, Mitchell Santner, is all set to represent Derbyshire for the second half of 2018 season. Earlier, the southpaw represented Worcestershire during the last two summers in the short format.
That said, he missed the rest of the season after making his debut in 2016 due to a finger injury. Santner gained prominence internationally after he helped Black Caps reach the semifinals of the ICC World T20 held in India. New Zealand faced defeat at the hands of England during the knock out match.

However, he returned during the summer of 2017 and took part in thirteen out of the 14 matches. Mitch claimed thirteen wickets and also scored 239 runs with the bat.
“We’re delighted to secure Mitchell for the second half of the 2018 season. He has been producing some of the best cricket of his career across all forms for New Zealand over the last few months, and is now recognised as the world’s number one T20 bowler,” commented the cricket advisor of Derbyshire cricket, Kim Barnett.
The quality all-rounder representing the White Ferns is currently in the squad for the ongoing Trans-Tasman Tri-nation series. Santner missed the match against Australia due to an injury.
“Mitchell is also an exceptional fielder and provides a quality batting option down the order,“concluded Barnett.
