Decision Review System (DRS) is in line to make its IPL debut soon. As per a report in The Indian Express, BCCI is all set to use the technology in the upcoming season of IPL.

It will be a surprising decision, as BCCI has always been opposed to this technology.

As former skipper, MS Dhoni said in the past, the technology is not 100% and needs improvement. The board though seems to test out the technology in the upcoming season. In recent series played by India, DRS has always been used.

As per the rules introduced by ICC last year, the technology is allowed to be used in the T20I format as well.

In fact, it will be making its World Cup debut in the shortest format during T20 World Cup 2020.

The major need of DRS in T20 cricket was felt during last year’s T20I series between India and England.

Joe Root was given out on a wrong decision at a crucial stage of the game, and he raised voice to use DRS in the T20 format as well.

Later, umpire C Shamshuddin – who erroneously adjudged Root out – also withdrew from the last T20I.

It all added to the debate of addition of DRS in the shortest format of the game too, and ICC introduced it.
