Former Cricketer Chetan Sharma Backs Shami, Says BCCI Shouldn't Withhold His Contract

foTeam India pacer Mohammad Shami has landed himself into a plethora of problems after his wife Hasin Jahan has levelled some heinous charges against him. It includes domestic violence and adultery. She revealed some private chats between Shami and other girls and even levelled rape charge against him. The situation has become so difficult for Shami that Board of Control for Cricket in India also withheld his annual contracts.

However, former Indian cricketer, Chetan Sharma has backed him and said that he should be given the central contract given his abilities with the ball in hand. Meanwhile, his wife Hasin has booked him on seven charges. While talking to news agency ANI, Chetan Sharma said that it is a personal matter and the BCCI shouldn’t withhold his contract.

“The good thing is they have not cancelled the contract and only withheld it. I think the contract should go on because as far as the cricketer’s ability is concerned, it has nothing to do with it. And also he has not been pronounced guilty by the court,” said Chauhan.

Kapil Dev backs Shami too

Earlier it was World-Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev who backed Shami. Kapil said that he doesn’t believe the allegations made by Hasin Jahan.

“I refuse to believe the allegations that have been levelled by Shami’s wife. If she knew about match-fixing then why didn’t she report it earlier? When the relationship was fine, why was she silent then? There is an investigation team. Let them do their work. If Shami has done something like this then it is unacceptable and disgraceful,” Kapil was quoted as saying by Wah News.

“Shami is a brilliant hardworking cricketer. I agree that his personal relationship is in trouble currently but such kinds of allegations by his wife are nasty and sickening until proven,” Kapil said.

Meanwhile, Shami is booked under sections 498A, 323, 307, 376, 506, 328 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
