Hardik Pandya Faces FIR for a Tweet Posted from a Parody Account

Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has come under the scanner over a tweet on BR Ambedkar, one of the major architects of the Indian constitution. However, it is learnt that it was posted from a parody account. Meanwhile, a court in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur has directed the police to look into the matter and file a First Investigation Report against the all-rounder. However, the copy of the complaint proves that it was never posted from Hardik Pandya’s verified handle.

While Pandya’s official twitter handle is @hardikpandya27, the order of the court is based on a tweet posted from the handle @sirhardik3777.

“We are yet to receive the orders of the court and once we get it, I will be in a position to comment,” Rajesh Yadav, a police officer in Jaipur was quoted as saying by NDTV.  “Further action will be taken according to law,” he added.

Meanwhile, the court has responded to a petition filed by DR Meghwal. He said that Pandya’s tweet was offensive which is bound to hurt the sentiment of people. The comment which has made Pandya come under the scanner was posted from @sirhardik3777 on 26^th December last year.

Meghwal who is a member of the Rashtriya Bhim Sena has said that the such a comment by a top-level cricketer sets a bad example. The court has asked the police to register a case under a law on crimes against SC/STs (Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes).

Pandya has emerged as the leading all-rounder in the national team. He has become an integral part of all three formats. He had a relatively below-par tour of South Africa with both bat and the ball as far as consistency is concerned. Keeping his workload in mind, Pandya was rested from the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy which India won in a sensational fashion.
