Right from the day Hardik Pandya has stepped into international cricket, he has drawn comparisons with Kapil Dev. The form India all-rounder too has been modest and has always rated Pandya above him. But, for the first time, Dev seemed to be disappointed with Pandya.

While speaking to ABP News during  show, Kapil slammed Pandya and said that the latter doesn’t deserve to be compared with him if he commits silly mistakes,

“If Pandya keeps making silly mistakes like these then he doesn’t deserve to be
compared with me. He definitely has a lot of talent, he has shown it in the first Test but I believe he need so to work on the mental aspect,” he told ABP News.

His comments have come after Pandya’s bizarre dismissals in both the innings. In first innings, Pandya just gifted his wicket to South Africa after opting for a clumsy approach.

He had his bat and leg both inside the crease but neither of two was grounded, which saw him running out himself. Pandya’s casual approach has invited criticism from Indian cricket fraternity, especially Sunil Gavaskar and Sanjay Manjrekar, the former India cricketers.

In the second innings too, Pandya was dismissed when he reached out for a delivery to play it. Though, till then, the match was already done and dusted and he was just another batsman to come back in the dressing room while staring at a series loss.

At the end of the game, Indian team found itself 135 runs short of the target. In both the lost Test matches, team India had to chase a target under reach but the Virat Kohli led failed to do it.

A loss in the second Test also gave South Africa an unassailable lead of 2-0. The next Test will only be a matter of pride for the Indian team whereas South Africa will look to whitewash India.

They (South Africa)  had recently whitewashed Bangladesh in South Africa in all the formats of the game. South Africa is on a track of at least emulating their success in one format. The Indian team is expected to give a strong competition to the hosts in the limited overs series.

The third and the final Test of the series starts on January 24 in Johannesburg.
