Windies star player Chris Gayle went unsold in the first round of the IPL auction 2018. This is the second time when Gayle has gone unsold. In 2011 as well, he went unsold but was later roped in by RCB as a replacement of Dirk Nannes.

It is to be noted that RCB had an option of using their RTM card on Gayle but they did not use it. His name can always come up later in the day if the franchises with to purchase him later.

Gayle was also the first player of the day to go unsold.
