Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir has been announced as the captain of Delhi Daredevils.

Gautam Gambhir wishes to deliver for the franchise to provide them with the much-deserved success they were devoid of in the last ten editions.

The 36-year old is Delhi Daredevils’ brand new appointment as captain.

Gambhir tasted success representing the Knight Riders since the 2011 edition of IPL. Gambhir led his side to a couple of trophies during the 2012 and 2014 editions of the cash-rich league.

Interestingly, he is one of the only few to have returned to the franchise they started off their IPL careers with. The Delhi legend appeared for the DD’s in the first three editions of the tournament.

The kind of squad we have, if we play to our ability, it is going to be difficult for anyone to beat us. It is all about playing to our potential,” specified Gautam Gambhir after the franchise made the decision official.

KKR intended to retain their talismanic captain for the upcoming editions of India’s premier T20 league.

However, to seek newer challenges, Gambhir advised the think tank to release him before the IPL retentions.

“Delhi has deserved a lot of success in the past which they have not so hopefully this is the year where they can achieve a lot of success,” added Gambhir according to ANI.

The Delhi-based franchise, more often than not, failed to reach the Playoffs in the last decade. Daredevils managed to reach the knockout stages of the 2012 edition after topping the table.
