India international, Jaydev Unadkat went through his share of ups and downs in his cricketing career. Perhaps, the peak of his career arrived a few weeks back when he received the second-highest bid in the IPL auction.

Rajasthan Royals, historically known for their conservative approach during auctions, went all out this time around. The two of the most expensive players in the IPL auction of 2018 went to the Rajasthan Royals.

Both, Ben Stokes and Unadkat went to the Royals camp for an exorbitant price tag of 12.5 crores and 11.5 crores, respectively. The Saurashtra pacer started out with a base price of 30 lakhs and created the record for going at 40 times his base price.

However, it wasn’t an as easy job for the lanky bowler, as he had to deal with the agonies of injuries in his career. Jaydev claims his back injury in 2014 gave him the most challenging phase of his life.

“That was the most difficult phase of my cricketing life. The back injury was due to stress. I made some minor changes in my bowling post rehabilitation which helped,” claimed Jaydev Unadkat according to Cribuzz.

Unadkat went sporadically represented the national side since making his debut back in 2010 in Centurion Test. The Fab Four of Indian cricket reigned supreme that point in time.

“I have learnt from that game and the time since then but I would not want to change anything,” replied Unadkat when asked if he would like to make a change in the hindsight.

The price tag of 11.5 crores came in the aftermath of his performances during IPL 2017 for Rising Pune Supergiants. He was only behind Bhuvneshvar Kumar in the race for the Purple Cap. The left-armer went on to clinch a hattrick during the season.

“It feels great but that (the money) is the last thing on my mind right now. I just want to go out there and give a good performance on the field,” said a focussed Unadkat.

Besides franchise cricket, 2017 was also a breakthrough year for Jaydev in the International arena. The 26-year old clinched the most number of wickets in the T20I series against Sri Lanka on his international comeback.

“I played in the T20 series against Sri Lanka recently and I think I did well. I would like to keep performing well and see how things go from there,” concluded Jaydev Unadkat.
