In a much-needed boost ahead of the game against Rajasthan Royals, MS Dhoni looks likely to lead Chennai Super Kings in their upcoming game.

Super Kings have already lost Kedar Jadhav due to injury while Suresh Raina missed the last game due to the same reason. And losing Dhoni for the upcoming game would have been a big blow as the Super Kings would be looking to bounce back from the defeat against Kings XI Punjab. The 36-year old is currently nursing a back injury.

During the game against Punjab, he battled the injury to play a stunning knock of 79 off just 44 balls and nearly took his team to a miraculous win.

Chasing a daunting 198, Super Kings had their back against the wall. With 67 runs needed off last four overs, Kings XI were looking like the firm favourites. However, Dhoni had other plans.

From a position where only one result seemed possible, Dhoni took the opposition bowlers to the cleaners to revive the chase.

He was on 33 off 28 balls, with Super Kings requiring 65 off 21 balls. And then began the onslaught as Dhoni turned back the clock. From that position, he hit three fours and three sixes. Super Kings eventually lost the game by 4 runs.

And it looks like Super Kings will not miss his services in the upcoming game. He was spotted batting  at the nets for a while. Along with Dhoni, Raina also did some light practise. And Super Kings batting coach Mike Hussey further raised hopes that Dhoni and Raina would play the game.

“I spoke to MS quickly on the bus; I asked him how he’s feeling and he said he is feeling better. So we are optimistic. He is at the training today. Much of the same with Raina, (we’re) confident. But he will have to go through training today, and then see how he is feeling,” Hussey said. “We are feeling pretty confident with both of them, but we will have to see how to them through training.”
