IPL 2018: MS Dhoni An Absolute Legend But Corey Anderson Bowled Absolute Bull, Says Dane van Niekerk

The game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings caught almost everyone’s attention in the cricketing fraternity. Fortunes swung from one side to another before Super Kings sealed an absolute thriller in a stunning fashion.

The architects of Super Kings’s win were MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu.  Dhoni smashed an unbeaten 70 off 34 balls while Rayudu scored 82 after Bangalore posted  a  massive 205 for 8.  Super Kings were looking well out of the contest after being reduced to 59 for 3. They soon found themselves reeling at 74 for 4.

However, Dhoni and Rayudu revived the chase with an 101-run stand as Super Kings went on to register the highest run chase at the Chinnaswamy. It looked the game would take another turn when Rayudu was run out but Dhoni remained till the end to take his team home with 2 balls remaining.

The equation was finally down to 16 off last over to be bowled by Corey Anderson. Dwayne Bravo started the proceedings by hitting a boundary and a six in the first two deliveries before taking a single to put Dhoni on strike. And Dhoni did the rest in style. The 36-year-old wasted no time and shuffled across the crease to smash Anderson for a huge six over long on to finish the match in his trademark style yet again.

Earlier in the game, fifties from AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock had fired the hosts to a mammoth 205 for 8. The South African duo shared an 103-run stand after Virat Kohli was out cheaply. De Kock scored 53 off 37 balls while de Villiers scored 68 off 30.

Meanwhile, while the cricketing fraternity is busy lauding Dhoni for his knock, South Africa women team’s captain Dane van Niekerk holds a different view. While she called Dhoni an  ‘absolute legend’, she feels that Corey Anderson bowled poorly. The Kiwi star conceded as many as 58 runs off just 3.4 overs.

Niekerk tweeted:
