IPL 2018: Scans To Determine Participation of Chris Lynn

The availability of Chris Lynn for the upcoming season of IPL will solely depend on results of the scans  -which he will undergo this week.

Lynn was injured during the final of the T20I series final against New Zealand.

He has suffered a dislocated shoulder, which has already ruled him out of the Pakistan Super League.

All the chances of him taking part in IPL now depend on the results of the scans which he will undergo.

Kolkata Knight Riders purchased Lynn for a huge amount of Rs 9.6 Crore.

However, now an injury has come at a wrong time and KKR is sweating over his fitness.

Last year too, he spent most of his time on the bench. He suffered a shoulder injury in KKR’s third game.

He then spent next one month on the bench. KKR, instead of releasing him, waited for the batsman to get fit.

He finally played his next game in May.

This shows that KKR have big hopes from Lynn this year and he is a necessity for them.

Though, his injuries are enough to keep him out of the race to captaincy now.

A few days back, Jacques Kallis, Head coach of KKR, had said that Lynn was one of the candidates for the captaincy job.

Lynn too said that he would love to lead KKR.

However, with him getting injured again, KKR might not look at him as captain as no team would like to have a captain who spends most of his time on the bench.

Robin Uthappa seems to be the only man for the captaincy post, now.

In past seven seasons, Gautam Gambhir led the team in IPL. Suryakumar Yadav was the vice-captain of the team.

This year, the team neither has Gambhir nor Surya. Hence, they have to find a new captain.

Also, KKR did not purchase a possible captaincy material in the auction, which came as a surprise.

However, more than captaincy post now, they would be more worried about Lynn’s fitness.

The upcoming season of IPL is still one and a half month away and chances of Lynn’s participation in the tournament looks bright.
