IPL 2018: Shakib Al Hasan Added in the 'Marquee' Player List for the Auction

With the IPL auction less than a week away, the IPL management and franchisees have started the preparation for the mega event as the teams will bid for to have of the top names in international cricket in their squad this time around. One of them will be Bangladesh’s number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib is one of the greatest bowlers to have played for Bangladesh and is a dominant figure in world Cricket at the moment.

Shakib who is in a rich vein of form in the ongoing Tri-series after grabbing man of the match award in two consecutive matches will enter the IPL auction as a marquee player with a base price of 2 crores, which is also the base price of 36 other elite players.

Shakib is placed alongside the likes of England’s Ben Stokes, Joe Root and India’s Ravichandran Ashwin in the IPL Auction 2018 scheduled to take place on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore. The all-rounder, who had featured in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders in the past seven seasons, was released by the Kolkata outfit for the upcoming edition of the money-spinning tournament.

The players will go under the auction hammer in two sets. The first set includes Ben Stokes, Mitchell Starc, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Yuvraj Singh, R Ashwin, Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan and Glenn Maxwell. The second set includes Shakib Al Hasan, Ajinkya Rahane, Harbhajan Singh, Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo and Kane Williamson.

Ashwin has been placed at the top of the list of Marquee players and will be the first player to go under the hammer while Shakib is 11th on the list. Mustafizur Rahman is the second highest placed Bangladeshi player at 56th in the list. Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal is at 193rd in the 578-player list.
