IPL 2018: Players Retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Indian Premier League (IPL) title winners of 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) management on Thursday (January 4) has revealed the following list of players in the form of David Warner as a captain and seam bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in their retention list in Mumbai.

Since his appearance in the second edition of the IPL, David Warner has featured in 114 matches in which he scored 4,014 runs at an average of 40.54. He smashed three hundreds and 36 fifties. The basher has been retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Earlier, under the dynamic leadership of 2016, has availed the star performers in the past which included the likes of opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan, teenage sensation from Afghanistan Rashid Khan as the teams have opted for the overhauling to feature in the upcoming edition of the Twenty20 league.

In the past, the Hyderabad-based outfit has already boasted about the top-notch players which further included the fast bowlers in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and then Bangladesh’s wily customer Mustafizur Rehman, but the former has been the one the SRH committee has shown the interest to bank on as the spearhead.

Let’s get into some history:

Hyderabad side was framed in 2012 soon after the Deccan Chargers was terminated owing to the financial crisis, as the new name unfolded under the Sun Group and that was owned by the media baron Kalanithi Maran.

Moreover, the ‘Orange Army’ has its home-base in the form of Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad which has the capacity of hosting around 55,000 spectators.

Five skippers until 2017:

Since opting for their first season in an overall sixth edition of the widely-acclaimed league, Hyderabad has already witnessed five different captains in the form of descending order; Kumar Sangakkara, Cameron White, Shikhar Dhawan, Darren Sammy, David Warner.

While talking about the performances since the entrance in IPL, Hyderabad has maintained the fourth position before finishing at sixth place in 2014 and 2015.

As the ninth edition saw them winning 11 out of 17 fixtures with the winning percentage of 64.70 before beating Bangladesh by eight runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore

However, in the 10th edition in 2017, Hyderabad finished on the fourth spot after winning eight out of their 15 outings.
