The timings of IPL matches have been changed, and new timings will be implemented from this year. The timing of the evening match has been postponed by one and a half hour and from now, the evening matches will start at 5:30 PM instead of 4:00 PM. On the o ther hand, the timings of night games have been preponed and from now, the night games will start at 7:00 PM instead of at 8:00 PM.

The change in timing agenda was one of the significant suggestions in the IPL Governing Council meeting last year, and in today’s meeting, a final decision was taken on the matter.

One of the major reasons behind postponing the timing of the evening games could be weather as the weather conditions are quite hot during the month when IPL is played while the main reason behind preponing the timings of the night games could be ending time of the game.

Night games usually used to end between 11:15 to 12:00 AM, which is quite late. It can be assumed that a night game would easily end by 11:00 PM, as per the new timings.

However, the change in time will now see a clash of both the IPL games and it will deprive fans of enjoying the action of both the games at the same time and they will be missing major portion of at least one game.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the first IPL game of the upcoming season will be played on April 7 in Mumbai where the host franchise, Mumbai Indians will play the opening game. Before the start of the season, an opening ceremony will also take place in Mumbai on April 6. Unlike last year, there will be only one opening ceremony.

In IPL 2017, a total of eight opening ceremonies took place to celebrate the 10 editions of the league. Apart from that, few other franchises also hosted separate functions to celebrate 10 years in IPL.
