Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Dinesh Karthik believes that the young talent Shubman Gill has got a great future in the Indian cricket team. The Under-19 young sensation Shubman Gill’sbrilliance was on display in the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which Kolkata won easily by six wickets and 14 balls to spare on Wednesday.

Gill, who was promoted to the number four position made the most of his opportunity as he scored a fine 57 off just 36 balls.

Shubman Gill showed his class.

Karthik gave credit to the Kolkata franchise to go for the young talent in the IPL’s mega-auction.

Kolkata had picked the likes of Gill, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti in the two-day auction. All these three players had represented India in the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup which India won in New Zealand.

Unfortunately, Kamlesh Nagarkoti was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.

Meanwhile, it was a fine performance from Gill and he received praise from his captain. Karthik said in the post-match presentation, “Credit to the franchise. They picked a lot of under-19 players. They are really skilled players.”

“It’s little harsh on him (Gill). The number of times, he’s been able to hit a boundary off the first ball. That boy is special. I don’t want to hype it up and put extra pressure on him. I can see a lot of years of India Blues in him,” Karthik added.

Karthik added, “I picked it up early, that we can bowl a lot of spin on this wicket. Our bowlers are so confident. They wanted to bowl. You need to be pushing boundaries. He (Narine) is a thorough all-rounder. Provides impetus at the top and also bowled the pressure overs. He’s a great player to have in the team”.
