The game between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) was yet again influenced by an inclement weather. It eventually modified the playing conditions. Interestingly, Delhi’s batting efforts were set-up by Prithvi Shaw before Rishabh Pant entertained the crowd at Kotla with his knock of 69 which came off just 29 balls.

Owing to the rain, this time around it was the Delhi team which ended up on the winning side, thereby, avenging the defeat at Swai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, earlier in the tournament.

Shreyas Iyer and Vijay Shankar helped Delhi’s score to almost 200 in the 18 over match before the rain hit the ground yet again.

Despite fireworks from Jos Buttler, Rajasthan Royals fell just four run short of the modified target due to the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method.

Much of the credit of the Daredevils defence has to go to Trent Boult. who stood tall with his spell of bowling. The Kiwi affected three dismissals and conceded only 26 runs in a high scoring chase.

No added responsibility for being a retained player: Pant

To get few games and test my skill set is good fun. It is a learning curve. Obviously, trying to back me and trying to pick brains of some people. We are off to Hyderabad tomorrow,” Trent Boult quoted while receiving his Purple Cap.

Delhi is on the verge of knock out from the tournament as one loss from here on would mean a dead end for the Daredevils.

We will see how it goes there. Also, we are taking it game by game. Pant is a quality and fearless cricketer. He goes out there and plays his shots,” said the Kiwi with 13 wickets to his name in the tournament.

For his blistering efforts with the bat, Rishabh Pant was adjudged as the man of the match.

It is going great for me. A win is more important for me. No added responsibility for being the retained player. I am using some different tricks to counter the bowlers,” commented Rishabh Pant while receiving his man of the match memento.

We are being positive because we know if we lose one more match we are out of the tournament. The intent is the same in every match we play,” concluded the Indian international.
