The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in all-support for Ambati Rayudu to open the innings for the Chennai-based team.
The Hyderabad right-hander Rayudu has been in sensational form while batting in the top order. The former Mumbai Indians batsman has so far accumulated 201 runs in five outings so far.
Rayudu has given a good platform to the Chennai side while opening the batting with Shane Watson. Chennai was behind the eight ball in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
However, prominent batter Rayudu was able to give them a much-needed impetus as he scored a fine 37-ball 79. He was also awarded the Man of the Match for his remarkable performance.
Rayudu’s knock included nine fours and four maximums as he struck at a strike rate of 213.51.
Super Kings’ captain further Dhoni believes that Rayudu is flexible to bat anywhere in the batting order. Rayudu had batted at number four position against SRH, as Faf du Plessis opened the innings with Shane Watson

“Rayudu has been fantastic. One of the questions was where do we play him? And I have seen him bat up the order at No. 3. Whenever he plays the big shots, he maintains shape, which is very important. He can bat at all numbers, but I’d prefer to see him an opening, where he looks very dangerous,” said Dhoni while praising Rayudu.
Ambati Rayudu is doing a fine job and CSK’s think tank will hope that he continues his good form. Chennai Super Kings have checked all the right boxes thus far in the tournament.
Men in Yellow have won four matches out of the five – to sit pretty at the top of the IPL 2018 points table.
