KL Rahul, the Indian batsman, has heaped praises on Indian captain Virat Kohli and has said that he is an inspiration,

“He is an extremely good player and we all know the numbers that he has achieved in the years that he has played so yeah, he is a big inspiration and it is great to have a captain like him in the team who leads from the front,” he said.

Rahul’s comments came after the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where Karnataka defeated Saurashtra by 41 runs to lift the trophy.

Rahul joined the team on the eve of the game to be the part of the playing XI.

However, he was dismissed for 0 after getting run-out.

Talking of Rahul and Kohli, the former has played under now India’s captain in RCB camp as well.

It was in IPL 2013 when he first for RCB with Kohli.

Later, he went onto play for Sunrisers Hyderabad but returned to RCB for IPL 2016.

He did not play IPL 2017 due to shoulder injury

The Indian batsman is all set to make his IPL comeback but for a different franchise i.e. Kings XI Punjab.

He has already lost his place in ODI format and is now a member of only Test and T20I side.

However, he could not do well in two Test matches he played in South Africa.

In T20I series, Rahul did not get a chance.

He is expected to walk in playing XI for Nidahas Trophy as many of the senior players have been rested.

For Kohli, his next international series will be one-off Test against Afghanistan.

There were reports that he might be rested for that game to but it doesn’t look like he would ask for rest now.

He hasn’t been named in India squad for Nidahas Trophy and isn’t a part of either of squads for Deodhar Trophy and Irani Cup.

His next assignment is IPL following which he will lead India in a mega season.
