Australia former explosive opening batter Matthew Hayden has put his hand up for the retention policy which was released in the first week of December the Indian Premier League’s Governing Council for the 2018 edition.

On the other side, it’s the great news for the die-hard fans of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who will be leading one of the favourite crowd teams Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming widely-acclaimed Indian Premier League’s (IPL) eleventh edition which further saw the side returning to the competition after two-years.

With Dhoni bound to don the yellow jersey, the veteran Australian batsman took to his official Twitter handle to express his desire.

Moreover, Hayden has already been the part of Super Kings as a player and then as a mentor.

A profile on Twitter which goes by name Chennai Super Kings Fans Association posted a photograph of Dhoni alongside Suresh Raina donning the traditional attire of Chennai.

The left-handed batsman Raina has led Gujarat Lions in the previous edition.

“No No. These Super Kings aren’t standing in RK Nagar by Election. We just shared the possible Retentions for Namma @ChennaiIPL. #SuperRetention #SummerIsComing and get ready to #WhistlePodu #CSK.” the post read.

However, the Super Kings’ official Twitter handle shared the post regarding the possible retention while adding an emoticon to it.

The 46-year-old Queensland-born Hayden was quick to react while saying he is up for the spot.

“I’m available,” Hayden responded jokingly.

Hayden’s post has eventually witnessed 1.2K likes followed by 187 likes and 60 comments.

In 32 IPL matches, Hayden scored 1,107 runs at an average of 36.9. He smashed eight fifties with the highest innings score of 93.

So much so, the discarded Indian left-arm fast bowler Irfan Pathan said it would be a ‘nightmare’ for the bowlers in the professional league competition.

“Nightmare for the bowlers will start again if you are on the field mate,” Pathan posted in a response.

The franchise Chennai Super Kings’ fans with the announcement of Dhoni has further expressed a satisfaction to witness the sea of blue emerging into the stadium, as the outfit was subsequently barred from playing the competition since 2016 when the officials of the team were allegedly accused of spot-fixing scandal which has taken cricketing by storm in India.

For the first eight editions, Dhoni has been at the helm for Super Kings who further saw his team sealing the title in 2010 and 2011.

Moreover, under the dynamic leadership of Dhoni, Super Kings lifted the Champions League Twenty20 trophy in 2010 and 2014.

Interestingly, with the formation of Rising Pune Supergiant(s) in 2016, the gloveman in the form of Dhoni led the Pune-based outfit, before Steven Smith took over the charge for the 10th edition of IPL.
