Well, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is perhaps the most clever mind on a cricket field was once again seen on Sunday (February 18). We witnessed it during the first Twenty20 International against South Africa in Johannesburg, a wayward Hardik Pandya had managed to get a wicket against the run of play and the credit for the same should be given to Dhoni.

The incident happened in the seventh over of the Proteas innings, David Miller had started his innings well and had already hit a six off Pandya’s first ball.

However, under-pressure Pandya then bowled a wide, short ball and over head-high delivery, much to the anger of Dhoni. And as soon as Dhoni collected the ball behind the stumps, he gestured to Pandya.

The former India skipper Dhoni immediately asked Pandya to use his brain and bowl in the line of the batsmen. And the move paid off on the very next delivery.

Medium-pacer Pandya bowled a slower delivery on a middle and off-stump channel which deceived Miller. The southpaw walked down the pitch, but eventually miscued his shot and ended up skying up the ball. The ball ballooned towards long-on where Shikhar Dhawan took a regulation catch.

Here is a clip of that moment when an angry Dhoni advised Hardik Pandya:
