Updated - 19 Mar 2018, 07:59 PM

The Nidahas Trophy concluded on Sunday with pre-tournament favourites India justifying their tag. The Men in Blue defeated Bangladesh by four wickets in a thrilling final to seal the deal. India were looking well out of the contest when they needed an improbable 34 runs from the last two overs, and five runs off the last ball.

However, Dinesh Karthik played a stunning innings to take the team home. He scored 29 off just eight balls including a last-ball six to give India a miraculous win.

The tournament witnessed some top-notch performances throughout. With the tri-series coming to an end now, we are taking a look at the best 11 performers:

The India skipper led his team from the front en-route to the title. He was the second highest run-scorer for his team. The right-handed batsman scored 176 runs in 5 games at a strike-rate of over 136. He did not start the tournament on a promising note but made amends with scores of 89 and 56 in the last two games.

2. Shikhar Dhawan:

The southpaw continued his hot streak in the tournament, thus finishing it as India’s highest run-scorer. The southpaw failed to deliver in the final but had played an integral part in India’s journey to the title-decider. He scored 198 runs, the third highest tally in the tournament, thus providing the support from top-order in almost all games.

3. Kusal Perera:

In a tournament where not much went right for Sri Lanka, Kusal Perera managed to impress one and all. The hard-hitting batsman was the top-scorer in the tournament, scoring 204 runs at an average of 51.

4. Mushfiqur Rahim:

The former Bangladesh skipper was one of the reasons that the Tigers managed to qualify for the final. His 72-run knock had helped Bangladesh chase down an improbable 215 against Sri Lanka. He finished the tournament as the second highest run-scorer, scoring 199 runs in 5 games.

5. Sabbir Rahman:

The right-handed batsman’s 77-run knock had helped Bangladesh recover from a disastrous start and post 166 for 8. Bangladesh were reeling at 68 for 4, but Sabbir remained until the very end to ensure the team posts a good total.  With 147 runs, he was Bangladesh’s third highest run-scorer in the tournament.

6. Dinesh Karthik:

The tournament was looking set to end on an ordinary note for Karthik, but the Tamil Nadu made it a memorable one with a stunning display in the final. With 34 runs needed off 12 balls, he struck 29 off just eight including a six on the last ball to take India home. He finished the tournament with a strike-rate of over 185.

7. Thisara Perera:

The former T20I skipper was his team’s third highest run-scorer with 95 runs. He did not have a good tournament with the ball, taking just a solitary wicket but his power-hitting and handy bowling make him an ideal candidate for this spot.

8. Washington Sundar

What a tournament this young spinner has had. Finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker with 8 wickets to Sundar’s name. What was even more impressive was his economical bowling and knack of providing early breakthroughs.  Even in the final, he took an early wicket in the form of Liton Das and conceded only 20 off his four.

9. Yuzvendra Chahal:

Chahal also lived up to his expectations, finishing the tournament as the joint leading wicket-taker. He too picked up 8 wickets including 3 for 18 in the final.

10. Mustafizur Rahman:

The left-arm seamer finished the tournament with 7 wickets, the second-best tally and Bangladesh’s best.  He was a bit expensive but managed to get important breakthroughs. In the final, he bowled a maiden 18th over which eventually went in vain.

11. Rubel Hossain:

Just like Rahman, Hossain was also expensive but he too managed to get important scalps throughout. In the final, he took the crucial wickets of Suresh Raina and KL Rahul in quick succession. Finished the tournament with 7 wickets.
