The T20 league of Mumbai Cricket Association, known as Mumbai T20 league, will have no player who is not eligible to play for Mumbai, a report in Mid-day suggests.

“This means that the league will have players who are currently playing for the state and are eligible to be part of the side in future.”

It means that players like Prithvi Shaw, Jay Bista, and Abhishek Nayar – who was dropped from the side mid-season, are available to be part of the T20 league.

But someone like Sarfaraz Khan, who switched his base to Uttar Pradesh before 2015/16 season, is not eligible to play the league.

“He played for Mumbai in both junior and domestic cricket but cannot play the league as he cannot make a comeback to the Mumbai side before he leaves UP.”

Though, someone like Iqbal Abdullah can be apart of this T20 league.

He switched his base to Kerala before the start of the 2016/17 season.

Presently, he is serving the cooling off period to be eligible to play for Mumbai again, the report in mid-day adds. This makes him eligible to be part of the league.

The rules to be part of the league makes those players eligible who can be part of the state team from the next season.

Those, who aren’t eligible to play for state, will not be part of the league.

This also means that veteran Wasim Jaffer will also not be playing the league.

The former Test batsman switched to Vidarbha before 2015/16  season, leaving Mumbai.

He was the part of the Vidarbha team that won the Ranji Trophy 2017/18.

The league will start on March 11, with final to be played on March 21.
