Rohit Sharma’s South African sojourn in South Africa is getting worse with every passing game. The India opener had arrived in the rainbow nation on the back of a very successful year.

Rohit performed exceedingly well in the One-day Internationals since returning to the team in June last year after a lengthy injury spell. He had scored 1293 runs at 71.83 in just 21 games — almost matching Virat Kohli. He also scored the same number of hundreds (6), as Kohli at a better strike-rate than the skipper.

However, the form on the sub-continental wickets has counted for little in the ongoing series. After his failure in the Test series, it was expected the opening batsman would hit the top-gear once he dons the coloured jersey. But Rohit has failed to regain his form in the ongoing ODI series too. In the first three games, he scored only 20 and 15 and 5.

And his wretched form in South Africa continued in the ongoing fourth game too. Unlike the last game, the India opener managed to open his account but could score only 5 before being sent back Kagiso Rabada once again. Rohit perished courtesy of a brilliant reflex catch from the South Africa pace spearhead.

Rabada bowled a full-length delivery and Rohit could only push it back to the bowler. There was still a lot to do to send back Rohit and Rabada did it brilliantly. The right-arm pacer bent low and completed an outstanding reflex take in his follow-through to pile more miseries on Rohit.
