South Africa, with their win at Centurion, kept their hopes alive to salvage some pride out of the limited-overs leg of the Indian tour. The men in blue won the series opener at Jo’burg in an emphatic fashion but faced a resolute Protean batting unit in reply in the second T20I.

The visitors lost the match by a huge margin of 6 wickets which means that the focus tilts towards Cape Town with both teams having everything to play.

Interestingly, four records are up for grabs in the third T20I at Newlands. Here is a teaser of what to expect in the grand finale of the grueling South African tour of India.

1. Virat Kohli – 17 shy of 2000 T20I runs

India’s ton machine has been on a record-breaking spree, the past couple of seasons. Virat Kohli is just 17 runs shy of achieving yet another feat in his glorious career. Kohli would become only the third batsman to reach the 2000 T20I run milestone along with Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum.

2. MS Dhoni- 1 catch away to complete 5o in T20Is

MS Dhoni, who stole the limelight after his 52 run knocks at Centurion, is only one grab away from pocketing 50 catches in T20Is. The talismanic wicketkeeper-batsman would be the first in the brief history of the format to achieve this feat. Only Kamran Akmal is close to MS Dhoni in this aspect.

3. David Miller – 3 hits away from 50 T20I maximums

David Miller, who is yet to fire in the T20I series, is only three hits away from crossing 50 sixes in the T20I format. Miller’s batting prowesses have remained dormant throughout limited-overs leg of the Indian tour, barring the Pink ODI at Joburg.

If Killer Miller manages to achieve the feat at Newlands, he would be only the second South African to do so after AB de Villiers.

4. India- First T20I series win against South Africa

With the series locked at 1-1, India has the opportunity to clinch its first-ever T20I series victory against South Africa. India lost the T20I series against the Proteas back in 2015 at home. This is now the perfect opportunity for the Indians to seal the deal against the Rainbow Nation.
