Rohit Sharma’s tour of South Africa is getting worse with every passing game. The India batting star was in stunning form before arriving in the African country.

After spending nearly six months on the sidelines due to injury, Rohit returned to the team during the Champions Trophy in June and hit the ground running.

He finished the Champions Trophy as the second highest run-scorer and went on to continue batting in the same manner. The right-handed batsman, Rohit performed exceedingly well in the One-day Internationals since returning to the team in June, amassing 1293 runs at 71.83 in just 21 games — almost matching Virat Kohli, who scored 1460 runs at 76.85, but having played five more matches in this span.

He also scored the same number of hundreds (6), as Kohli at a better strike-rate than the skipper.

However, his form in South Africa has been absolutely poor. The team-management showed immense faith in him by preferring him ahead of Ajinkya Rahane for the first two Tests. However, the 30-year old failed to deliver before being dropped for the third Test. There were expectations that Rohit would regain his form once he dons the coloured jersey.

ODIs and T20Is are considered his forte and many expected that the Mumbai star would start piling up runs.

However, Rohit’s poor form with the bat continued in ODIs too, as he could score only 35 runs in the first three games including a duck in the third match. And with his wretched run in South Africa continuing, it seems the fans have had enough, as they hilariously urged him to retire from overseas tours following his latest failure.

Here are some of the messages after the India opener was dismissed for a duck in the third ODI:
