India, after clinching the series at Port Elizabeth, came in all guns blazing at Centurion to take the wind away from the hosts. After winning the toss, the India captain opted to bowl first and restricted the South Africans to only 204, powered by the performances from their seamers.

It was the Indian run machine who notched up yet another international ton to take India home and bagged the man of the match as well as the man of the series award for his effort. India won the match by a margin of 8 wickets and clinched the series 5-1.

Here are the player ratings for Team India

Rohit Sharma- 4/10

Rohit Sharma’s overconfidence post the Port Elizabeth ton led to his downfall. The Indian opener already sizzled up front with three classic boundaries. But his stay at the crease was limited as he perished soon while trying to hook one from Ngidi, only managing to glove it to the keeper. Rohit gets a four.

Shikhar Dhawan- 5/10

Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t quite manage to get going in his uncharacteristic knock of 18 off 34 balls. The fluent southpaw didn’t look at his best as he repeatedly tried to force the issue against the South African bowlers. Dhawan was unlucky to pick the man out at point perfectly which put an end to his struggle.

After watching him today at Centurion, it is safe to assume that VK is currently batting at a different level and is a country mile ahead of the rest. His unbeaten 96-ball 129, comprised of a mind-boggling 19 boundaries and 2 sixes.

The Chase master notched up yet another international ton to take his tally to 35 in ODIs and 56 overall. He received the man of the match as well as the man of the series award for his superhuman effort.

Ajinkya Rahane- 7.5/10

Rahane gave a glimpse of the magical innings at Durban with his unbeaten knock of 34 off 50 balls. He smashed three boundaries in his knock but more importantly rotated the strike with Kohli at the other end. The two put on a match-winning partnership of 126 runs to see India home.

Shreyas Iyer- 4/10

Shreyas Iyer did not get an opportunity to showcase his talent today with the supremacy displayed by the top order. This has been the story of the Indian batting order throughout the series. The domination up front has covered up for the frail-looking middle order.

Hardik Pandya- 6.5/10:

After the injury to Kedar Jadhav, the additional responsibility on Hardik Pandya of bowling out all 10 overs has clearly worked in favour of the allrounder. All of a sudden, we see a much-disciplined bowler with a lower economy in Pandya who also chips in with wickets. In his 10 overs today, he only conceded 39 runs and claimed the wicket of Morkel.

Much like Shreyas Iyer, MS Dhoni did not get an opportunity to express himself with the bat. The day would be special for MSD as he registered his 600 catch in International cricket. MSD gets a four for the priceless guidance to the young bowlers behind the stumps.

Kuldeep Yadav – 7/10:

Yet again, Kuldeep nagged the South African batsmen with his line and lengths. Yadav managed to pick up one South African wicket to take his tally to 17 wickets in the series. This is now the most number of wickets taken by a spinner on the South African soil.

Yuzvendra Chahal – 7.5/10:

Chahal notched up a couple of South African wickets to give a stiff competition to his counterpart at the other end in the tally of wickets.  Chahal with his two wickets ends the series with 16 wickets.

Shardul Thakur – 9/10

Looking at Shardul Thakur, it did not appear as if he was playing only his third ODI. Shardul Thakur was the standout bowler in the end as he managed to clinch a four-wicket haul and conceded only 52 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah – 8.5/10:

The Indian pacers had a field day at the office claiming seven out of the ten South African wickets. Two of them were taken by Jasprit Bumrah. He has been brilliant throughout the series by clinching those important wickets up front.
