Not only India but also MS Dhoni will have the chance to achieve two incredible feats in the upcoming fifth ODI against South Africa.

The Men in Blue will lock horns against the Proteas in the much-awaited game on Tuesday (February 13).

The former India skipper needs just 46 runs to become the fourth Indian player to reach the 10,000-run mark in the 50-over format. The 36-year old has scored 9954 runs in 316 games so far.

The three Indians who have achieved the feat are Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. Overall, only 11 players have managed to accomplish this incredible feat.

Dhoni will also have the chance to join another special club. The World Cup-winning skipper needs just a couple of catches to become first Indian and just the third wicketkeeper with 600 catches in International cricket.

So far, only Adam Gilchrist and Mark Boucher have achieved the feat. Gilchrist leads the list with a staggering 952 catches while Boucher took 813 grabs.

Meanwhile, India will have a chance to create history in the upcoming game. The Men in Blue are currently leading the six-match series 3-1, and a win in the upcoming game will see them winning a bilateral ODI series in South Africa for the very first time.

In the past, India had lost 5-2 in 1992-93, 4-0 in 2006-07, 3-2 in 2010-11, and 2-0 in 2013-14.

The form and history, however, is not on India’s side at the moment. India lost the last game by five wickets in Johannesburg and are yet to win a game in Port Elizabeth – the venue for the upcoming game.

So far, India had five played ODIs in Port Elizabeth and had ended on the losing side on all occasions. On the other hand, the hosts boast a good record at the venue. Out of 32 ODIs they had played in Port Elizabeth, the Proteas have won 20 including four against India.
