The present era of the Indian cricket follows the mantra of attack and this can be seen in their playing style with the likes of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya who like to go after the bowlers.

This mantra has sparked different aggression in the Indian dressing room which seems to work in their favour.

The Indian team has enjoyed great success under the leadership of Virat Kohli, and the style of play he had employed in this ongoing tour has been impressive especially against opposition like South Africa.

Kohli’s style of play has also helped Team India’s agenda, as he has been the most successful batsmen on tour amongst both the teams.

Kohli has scored three centuries on his first tour to the Rainbow nation as a full-time captain. He scored one century in Tests and had two centuries in four ODI’s. He also had a 46 not out and in the second ODI and a 75 in the fourth ODI in a losing cause.

This style of play has impressed former South African fast bowler Andre Nel who was one of the most competitive players to have played the game. Nel says he would have loved to bowl to the likes of Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan.

“I would love to bowl at Kohli. I always wanted to get the best players out. Yes, I might have failed, but if I can compete at that level, I would have loved to bowl to him. I would love to bowl to Pandya too. He is always looking for his battle, that’s his nature. He wants to counter-attack. That’s a challenge I would have liked to take on.”

He also added, “Also, Shikhar Dhawan – looks like a guy who doesn’t veer away from a battle. The bigger the battle, that’s what I would have wanted. These three seem like real characters in the Indian side. There are other good players – like Pujara is an unbelievable player, but he doesn’t give anything away. But those three guys look like; if you give them a battle, they’ll give you a battle back. That’s the guys I would like to bowl to.”
