South Africa won the toss and decided to field first in the second T20 International at SuperSport Park, Centurion.

The hosts have remained unchanged for the do-or-die clash while the tourists have brought in  Shardul Thakur in place of unwell Jasprit Bumrah.

Here is what the captains said:

JP Duminy:

We’ll bowl first. Strangely batting first has been better. But with the rain around I think it will swing. Hopefully we can get a few wickets up front. Same XI for us. We need to improve our game.

Virat Kohli:

We would’ve liked to bowl as well. We can look to capitalize on their batting line-up which hasn’t done well yet. Shardul replaces Bumrah since he has a bit of a niggle. We wan to seize the opportunity, and we need to continue the same cricket

Preview:

The Men in Blue continued their white-ball dominance over the Proteas in the first T20I. After winning the ODIs 5-1. the tourists thrashed the hosts by 28 runs to go one nil up in the three-match series. It was yet another clinical performance from Virat Kohli & Co.

Sent in to bat first, India rode on Shikhar Dhawan’s 39-ball 72 to post a daunting 203 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, South Africa were restricted to 175 for 9 with Bhuvneshwar Kumar;s 5 for 24 doing the bulk of the damage.

With form on their side, India will be looking to wrap up the series in Centurion. On the other hand, the hosts need to play out of their skin to stop the high-flying visitors. The absence of the big names only makes the task more tougher for them. However, with conditions well known to JP Duminy & Co, they can spring a surprise or two.

Here is the playing eleven of both teams:

South Africa:

JJ Smuts, Reeza Hendricks, Jean-Paul Duminy(c), David Miller, Farhaan Behardien, Heinrich Klaasen(w), Andile Phehlukwayo, Chris Morris, Dane Paterson, Junior Dala, Tabraiz Shamsi

India:

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli(c), Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni(w), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
