Another day, another game, but the poor display with the bat continued from South Africa. Playing to salvage their pride, the Proteas were bundled out for 204 in the sixth ODI against India. South Africa’s innings never got the impetus and as a result, they could only post a modest total.

Sent in to bat first, Hashim Amla and Aiden Markram once again failed to give their team a bright start. Amla was the first to depart after edging one from Shardul Thakur behind the stumps. Markram looked good during his short stay but fell to a loose shot once again. The stand-in skipper scored 24 with the help of three fours and a six.

AB de Villiers and Khaya Zondo then steadied the ship with a good partnership. But before they could lay the platform for a good total, Yuzvendra Chahal broke the stand.

The leg-spinner castled AB de Villiers with a googly to end the 62-run stand. From thereon, the hosts kept on losing wickets at regular intervals which debarred them from getting the impetus.

Zondo was holding firm from one end but lack of support from the other did not the hosts challenge the tourists. Heinrich Klaasen (22), Farhaan Behardien (1) and Chris Morris failed to contribute much as India kept the hosts under check throughout the innings.

Zondo became the seventh South African wicket to fall after scoring 54.

The tail-enders made some good contributions, helping the hosts to cross the 200-run mark.

However, it did not last long and the South African side has been bundled up for a below-par total.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:
