Team India top-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane believes the skill-level of the premium spin duo in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja can deliver goods owing to the foreign tours while adding the slow bowlers are supposed to work hard on their approach – to become more efficient.

“I feel [Ravichandran] Ashwin and [Ravindra] Jadeja have it in them to deliver abroad and not only in India,” Rahane was quoted as saying by India Today.

The 29-year-old Rahane is the deputy of Virat Kohli and remarked the spinners knows how to perform in the alien conditions.

Rahane, who miserably failed in the recently concluded three-match Test series against Sri Lanka which saw him scoring just 17 runs in five innings, but the selectors have shown the faith in him to be picked for the impending South Africa Test series that will be beginning from January 5 in the Cape Town.

The right-handed batsman Rahane, who boasts about the decent record away from home while averaging at 69.66, has featured in two Tests on the South African soil, stated both the prominent bowlers had done well at home.

“So, Ashwin and Jadeja are doing really well (at home) at the moment but I am sure they are capable of doing well abroad as well,” Rahane added.

Rahane is further hopeful to see Ashwin and Jadeja doing well for the national team in away conditions.

“I completely believe that and I am confident that whoever plays or if both of them plays they will do well in abroad,” Rahane asserted.

Moreover, both the bowlers have done wonders for Indian cricket particularly in the traditional format which further saw an ace off-spinner Ashwin was the leading Test wicket-taker in 2015 and 2016 respectively for India, as Virat Kohli-led team have been cherishing the home success.

In nine matches in 2015, Ashwin bagged 62 wickets and went on to pick 72 wickets in 2016.

On the other side, while knowing the African surfaces would not assist spinners, Rahane reiterated the senior slower bowlers have had gained the experience to leave a significant impact to directly focus on the style that according to him plays a major role while setting the example of Australian off-spinner and England bowling all-rounder Moeen Ali.

“See when you play in India you have to bowl in a certain way and. If you see Moeen Ali, Nathan Lyon if they are playing in England or Australia, they have to bowl with a different style,” Rahane concluded.

Owing to the consistency and the commitment, Ashwin went on to claim 54 scalps in 2017 and Jadeja has been dead accurate to make things harder for the batsmen.

In 2017, Ashwin and Jadeja shared 110 wickets which further saw India registered seven wins in 11 Test fixtures.

Surprisingly, Ashwin and Jadeja were rested for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka which further saw the young spin duo in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal were introduced in the national squad.

Rahane made his Test debut against Australia at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi in March 2013 and which further saw him scoring 2,826 runs at an average of 44.15 in 73 innings of 43 Test fixtures. He smashed nine tons and 12 fifties.
