In a strongly worded tweet, India opener Shikhar Dhawan lashed out at Emirates Airways for their unprofessional conduct which saw the player leave his family stranded at Dubai airport and travel to South Africa with the Indian team.

Shikhar Dhawan & family along with the other members of the Indian team were en-route to South Africa for the upcoming series. They were taking the flight to the Africa country from Dubai when Dhawan’s family was asked to produce a birth certificate of the children. Not surprisingly, the documents were not there with the family, and the cricketer had to leave without his wife and children who were waiting at the airport for the documents to arrive.

The India batting star also slammed the company for not informing him of all the procedures when he was boarding the flight in Mumbai and also claimed that one of the employees treated rudely with his family.

“Absolutely unprofessional from @emirates. Was on my way 2 SA with my fam & was told tht my wife and kids can’t board the flight from Dubai to SA. Was asked to produce birth certificates & other documents fr my kids at the airport which we obviously didn’t have at that moment,” he tweeted.

“They are now at Dubai airport waiting for the documents to arrive. Why didn’t @emirates notify about such a situation when we were boarding the plane from Mumbai? One of the emirates’ employee was being rude for no reason at all,” he added.

Meanwhile, the series against the Proteas will kick-start from January 5 in Capetown. The three-match Test series will be followed by six One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals.

Dhawan, who was rested for the T20I series against Sri Lanka, has been in fine form and will look to continue it in South Africa too as India eye their maiden Test series win in the Rainbow nation.
