Sourav Ganguly Speaks on What Ashish Nehra Brings to the Table

Hardik Pandya has been in the thick of things with his recent performances with both the bat and with the ball in the recently concluded five-match ODI series against Australia.

The 23-year old has been India’s finest search for a genuine all-rounder off-late. His bowling has been important for India’s recent success, as he gets the breakthroughs in the middle phase of the innings. Cricket pundits and analysts have been all praises for the young all-rounder. His batting skills have given depth to the Indian batting lineup and he’s been good even at the top of the order.

One of India’s successful captains Sourav Ganguly has also praised the Surat-born all-rounder and has said that he is a great all-rounder, but it is too early to compare him to the great Kapil Dev. He said:

“Hardik Pandya has the qualities to help this Indian team but don’t compare him with Kapil Dev at the moment. Kapil Dev was an absolute champion. We will talk about it 10-15 years down the line once Pandya keeps playing that long.”

He also added that we all must enjoy the brand of cricket Pandya is playing. Former cricketer said:

“Let’s enjoy his cricket, he is a good cricketer, he is a positive cricketer. He’s a fighter and he has got heart when he plays cricket. That’s what you look in a young cricketer. I wish him all the best hopefully he continues to do good work for Virat Kohli.”

According to Ganguly, veteran fast-bowler Ashish Nehra who was a surprise pick for the T20 series will have a huge say in the upcoming series:

“It’s a good news for Indian cricket that they have picked ability and not age. He is an exceptional T20 bowler. We saw him in last T20 World Cup. He is a left armer and he creates a different angle. I think he will come out with flying colours in this series as well.”
