The Men in Blue went into the record books to be the first Indian team to win a series in the Rainbow Nation. India defeated South Africa by 73 runs to seal the series with one match still to be played at SuperSport in Centurion on Friday (February 13).

In addition, batting first India registered 274 runs on the board. After a dismal show in the first four ODIs, Rohit Sharma struck a ton.

Rohit came to form at the right time as top-order continued to dominate the Proteas bowlers. Shreyas Iyer (30) and Kohli (36) provided some support to the attacking batter.

However, in reply, India rattled the host on 201 courtesy some brilliant bowling from India spinners.

The young duo in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal once again combined well – to do the job for India. They bagged six wickets together and so far shared 27 wickets in five ODIs.

Moreover, Hardik Pandya provided good support to the spinners while returning with two scalps.

Meanwhile, Hashim Amla tried to create some resistance but ran out of partners at the other end.

India played with such authority throughout the series as they leapfrogged South Africa to become the No.1 ODI team in ICC’s ranking list.
