St Moritz Ice Cricket: Mohammad Kaif's cheeky tweet after Shahid Afridi scored a duck

Cricket has touched new boundaries with the innovative idea of ice cricket. Some of the legendary cricketers from all around the world have got together at St Moritz in Switzerland — to participate in Ice Cricket.

The first match was played between Badrutt’s Palace Diamonds and Royals on 8^th February on a cricket field covered entirely with snow. Both the teams had some of the big names in international cricket.

On one hand, Palace Diamonds had the likes of Virender Sehwag, Mahela Jayawardene, Michael Hussey, Andrew Symonds, Zaheer Khan and Lasith Malinga. While on the other hand, Royals had the likes of Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis, Owais Shah, Shahid Afridi, Daniel Vettori and Shoaib Akhtar.

The Royals eventually won the match by six wickets with 28 balls remaining. England’s Owais Shah has been the top-scorer for Royals with 74 off 34 balls.

The match began in a typical Virender Sehwag style as he hit the very first ball for a boundary. Sehwag also led the Diamonds in St Moritz ice cricket challenge.

Royals were led by Pakistan’s legend Shahid Afridi, who bowled three overs giving away 21 runs and picked up the wicket of Mahela Jayawardene.

However, the all-rounder Afridi failed with the bat and was dismissed for a duck on the bowling of Ramesh Powar and was caught by Mohammad Kaif in the deep.

Kaif who was one of the best fielders in the Indian team Tweeted and tried to pull Afridi’s leg as he wrote, “You picked the wrong fielder again @SAfridiOfficial 🙂 But great fun playing on ice for the first time and well played to your team.”
