Suresh Raina Lauds Team India After Another Series Victory

Suresh Raina might not be on the scene as far as the national team is concerned, but the southpaw’s latest tweet for the victorious Indian team pretty much proves that he is well updated about the team. The out-of-favour batsman, who last played an ODI way back in October 2015, took to Twitter to congratulate the Men in Blue after they thrashed Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the third and final ODI to win the three-match series 2-1.

Brimming with confidence after the huge win in the second game in Dharamsala, Rohit Sharma & Co. gave another clinical performance to make light work of the Islanders. Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl first was justified by the bowlers as led by Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal’s three-wicket hauls; the hosts restricted the visitors to a modest 215 after being on the backfoot initially when Upul Tharanga and Sadeera Samarawickrama added 121 runs for the second wicket. Sri Lanka were looking destined to post a big total after racing away to 160 for two before India took the last eight wickets for just 55 runs to dash their hopes.

In reply, the hosts were off to a poor start too as Akila Dananjaya dismissed their in-form skipper Rohit Sharma for just 7.  However, a 135-run stand between Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer all but sealed the game in India’s favour before Thisara Perera dismissed iyer for 65. Dhawan, on the other hand,  went on to complete his century off just 84 balls and was well supported by Dinesh Karthik as the duo shared an unbeaten stand of 70 runs to take India home in the 33rd over.

Impressed with the performance and yet another series victory, Raina congratulated the team and also wished the players best of luck for the upcoming three-match T20I series.
