Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to don the yellow jersey come the 11th season of IPL, and he also revealed that the thought of not playing for CSK again never crossed his mind. He revealed that several franchises had approached him ahead of the Player Retention event earlier in the month. Chennai Super Kings retained Dhoni and there was no way he could have played for any other teams other than CSK.

Speaking at a promotional event in Chennai, Dhoni said that the thoughts of not playing for the yellow brigade never crossed his mind.

“A lot of people approached me, I can tell you that. But, you know, I can’t think (of) not coming back to CSK,” said Dhoni when asked that whether playing for Chennai was a natural choice for him.

He also spoke about the love he received from the yellow brigade fans over the first eight years of the tournament. The former skipper also lauded the team management for keeping a rough phase to rest and coming back stronger after a couple of years.

“And as I said, it is because of everything – what we been through, how we have conducted ourselves, how the management has been, how the players have been, how the fans have been. I always keep saying, you know, it is like a second home to me. The fans have over here have literally adopted me, they accept me as their own. There can’t be a bigger compliment than that. This is a special place and that thought of being with any other franchise was never a question. So that was a very easy answer for me,” he further added.

Barring MSD, CSK also retained Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. Dhoni was picked as the first choice for the Rising Pune Supergiant after Chennai was slapped with a two-year ban following the fixing scandal that wrecked the tournament in 2015.
