Cricket has gained immense popularity in the last decade and the credit must be given to Twenty20 cricket. The shortest format has attracted new fans which have eventually helped in making the game even more popular, as Trevor Bayliss made an interesting comment.

However, as much as the fans have enjoyed the format, the players have had to work harder in order stay fit.

England was knocked out of the T20 Trans-Tasman tri-series despite beating New Zealand by two runs in Hamilton on Sunday. England tasted victory for the first time after the ODI series.

England have had a long summer in Australia. They went Down Under in November. Players and the coaching Staff have finally getting affected by the congested schedule.

England’s coach Trevor Bayliss raised his concern that T20 International matches should be scrapped amidst such congested international schedule.

The Australian who coached in the IPL and BBL feels that the T20 format must be left for franchise cricket.

He said, “I wouldn’t play T20 internationals, I’d just let the franchises play. If we continue putting on so many games there’ll be a certain amount of blowout, not just players but coaches as well.”

Bayliss insisted that international T20 should be played only around the World Cup, “If you want to play a World Cup every four years or whatever it is, maybe six months before you get the international teams and let them play some T20 internationals,”

He said it made sense to split coaching duties between different formats, “If you go to a swimming tournament you’ve got 1500m specialists and 100m specialists. I think it’s definitely the way it’s heading, not just with the players.”
