Speedster Trent Boult and Tim Southee of New Zealand exhibited a brilliant display of swing bowling as they bundled out England for just 58 runs in 20.4 overs on the first day of the day-night Test at Eden Park in Auckland. Meanwhile, the Black Caps got off to a good start after losing an early wicket.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and put England to bat first. However, since then it was a landslide for England as only two batsmen touched the double-figure mark.
Meanwhile, No. nine batsman Craig Overton was England’s highest run-scorer with unbeaten 33 runs followed by Mark Stoneman’s 11.
Also, England’s five out of 11 batsmen got out for a duck which stands as the lowest ebb. Comeback man Ben Stokes went out on a nought along with skipper Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, and Stuart Broad.
Simultaneously, Boult and Southee wrecked a havoc in England batting ranks returning with six and four wickets respectively. Boult finished off with sublime six for 32 while Southee returned with four for 25.
However, in reply, New Zealand is currently 74 for one with Williamson batting at 46 and the left-handed batter Tom Latham 25. Meanwhile, James Anderson provided the first breakthrough removing Jeet Raval for three.
Meanwhile, here is how the Twitter reacted to New Zealand’s amazing display of bowling:
