For a long time now, the debate about prioritising Women’s cricket in India has been doing the rounds, and the BCCI has been unable to make any major amends about it.

Indian women’s team is currently in South Africa for a limited-overs series against the South African Women’s team. The first game was played on Monday which the Indian team won by 88 runs courtesy Smriti Mandhana who scored 84 runs.

However, the game didn’t get broadcast in India, and the cricket fans were disappointed and took to Twitter to express their disappointment over BCCI’s attitude towards Women’s cricket.

It was expected that after the final of the Women’s World Cup last year the BCCI will take measures to popularise women’s cricket in the county, but there is no telecast or live streaming in India.

Cricket boards in other countries make sure that every match of their women’s team gets telecasted for the fans. BCCI tried to emulate it, and every match of the Women’s Challengers Trophy was telecast on Star Sports. Even the Women’s Big Bash League matches were shown in India.

After the fans outraged on Twitter, a BCCI media representative said, “BCCI does not have the rights for the matches that are played outside India,”

The two teams will play three One Day international matches and five T20I international on a month-long tour. The ODI series will be a part of the ICC Championship match, and both the teams will be looking forward to putting their best foot forward in the series and put a contention for the next World Cup.
