The Warner vs Quinton De Kock saga has got the entire cricketing world talking. Former cricketers took to Twitter to express their views on the heated exchange of words between the two cricketers on the staircase.
Australia eventually won the first Test by 118 runs and the South African wicket-keeper early on the fifth day.
A video surfaced the internet which revealed David Warner fired up against De Kock at the staircase leading towards to the dressing room at tea on day four.
In the video, Warner is seen arguing with De Kock. However, ever since the video got viral on the internet cricketers have been divided into two different groups.
Also, the former cricketers have been partial towards their own countrymen. Australian skipper Steven Smith expressed his views on the incidence and said that the De Kock had provoked the Australian opener by passing some personal comments.
On the other hand, former South African captain Graeme Smith said that Warner is experiencing a dose of his own medicine.
Warner is known for his personal jibes at opposition players. Smith said that this had to happen.
He feels he has tested player’s patience in the past and this reaction by De Kock is not a surprise.
Michael Vaughan and Paul Harris also chipped in with their views and backed the South African wicket-keeper.
Moreover, they said that Warner should be prepared for such comments as he does such similar things.
Here are the tweets:
Ugly scenes in Durban. Can only assume something very personal has been throw at @davidwarner31 for this type of reaction. Not a good look all round. #SAvAUS

Gilly- Warner crossed many personal boundaries with the South Africans, so we can’t be surprised when there is eventually a reaction. If players are happy to give it,they have to be prepared to take it,too. On both sides!
But agreed not a good look. #SAvsAUS https://t.co/obTo0GO2H8— Graeme Smith (@GraemeSmith49) March 5, 2018
Hey Biff, you’re much closer to the action than me so thanks for heads up. Whatever the case, going personal is rubbish from anyone. Get on with the cricket. More importantly mate, how are the #biffstix going? ?? @GraemeSmith49 https://t.co/k23HPoUw45

Someone should tell David Warner that if he dishes out abuse he should be able to take it back without behaving like a spoilt 2 year old. Not good for the game to see him behaving like a child!!

Totally agree Big Bird … If you are going to give it out & many times he has got close to the personal bone he has to expect a comeback … https://t.co/V2IJ37ZXCV
