Kagiso Rabada Rohit Sharma
Kagiso Rabada had the better of Rohit Sharma in the third ODI as well.

Rohit Sharma had arrived in South Africa on the back of a highly successful year with the bat.

The right-handed batsman performed exceedingly well in the One-day Internationals since returning to the team in June last year, amassing 1293 runs at 71.83 in just 21 games — almost matching Virat Kohli, who scored 1460 runs at 76.8, but having played five more matches in this span. He also scored the same number of hundreds (6), as Kohli at a better strike-rate than the skipper.

However, the form on the sub-continental wickets has counted for little in the ongoing series. After his failure in the Test series, it was expected the opening batsman would hit the top-gear once he dons the coloured jersey. But Rohit has failed to regain his form in the ongoing ODI series too. In the first two games, he scored only 20 and 15.

And any hopes of seeing him return to his top was ended in the very first over of the ongoing game in Cape Town, as Kagiso Rabada dismissed him for a duck. The Proteas pace spearhead bowled a length delivery outside off, which came back sharply and caught the inside edge, as Rohit looks to leave it.

The wicketkeeper took a good catch behind the stumps to ensure Rohit’s wretched run on the African soil continues.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
