A couple of months ago, India chief selector MSK Prasad had stated the country does not have an apt replacement for MS Dhoni.

“Let me tell you frankly that those boys are still not up to the mark where we would have liked them to be. We will keep giving them chances in the India A tours and make sure they are nurtured properly,” Prasad had said in December last year.

Well, Prasad might have to change his mind after having a look at Sanju Samson’s latest grab behind the stumps. The highly-rated wicketkeeper took a stunning one-handed catch against Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Mohammad Saif would have thought he was safe after he intentionally guided a KC Akshay delivery behind the stumps. With no slip in place, the ball looked primed to run away for a four. However, Samson timed his dive to perfection and took a stunning one-handed catch.

Here is a clip of that stunner:

Kerala rout Uttar Pradesh:

Meanwhile, Kerala boosted their qualification hopes with a crucial 120-run win over Uttar Pradesh.

Rohan Prem and Arun Karthik scored half-centuries while Jalaj Saxena and Sachin Baby came up with useful 30s to help Kerala finish with 261 for 9. Mohsin Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Uttar Pradesh, finishing with 4 for 43 from his 10 overs.

In reply, Uttar Pradesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were all out 141 in the 40th over. Uttar Pradesh were also knocked out of contention of a quarterfinal berth after suffering their third loss in five game.
