Comeback man Suresh Raina will grab a lot of eyeballs when India takes on South Africa in the first T20I at Johannesburg. Meanwhile, India will play a three-match T20 series in the Rainbow Nation.

Also, India will be high on confidence after scripting the historic ODI series win. However, South Africa will look to turn things into their favour with the change in formats.

Raina along with KL Rahul and Jaydev Unadkat joined the Indian set-up ahead of the T20Is. Also, the trio had a two-hour net session at Centurion before the start of the sixth ODI.

India’s wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni also had a go in the nets ahead of T20Is.

Raina sweating it out:

The 31-year-old Raina, who made a comeback after almost a year sweated it out at the nets. The swashbuckling middle-order batsman is keen to prove his worth once again. However, it still remains a question whether he will be included in the first XI.

BCCI from their official twitter account posted a video of Raina training hard at the nets. Raina looked in good touch, hitting the ball from the middle of the bat.

How’s that for a @ImRaina flourish! #TeamIndia #SAvIND,” bcci twitted.

Raina’s comeback:

However, Raina’s return remains the fascinating aspect of the T20 series from India’s point of view. He last played for India almost a year ago in a T20 game against England.

Further, his continued absence from the T20I set-up during the 2017-18 home season raised eyebrows. Later, it was revealed that he failed to pass the ‘yo-yo’ tests made mandatory for team selection. Meanwhile, later he cleared the test in December.

Raina came from a good show in the domestic T20 tournament. He scored 314 runs in 9 matches for Uttar Pradesh including a hundred and two fifties. However, this remains the acid test for him for a probable India spot in future.
