WBBL 2017/18: Ellyse Perry Runs to Check the Boy who got Hit by her Shot

The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) saw a humanitarian side of the Australian cricketer, Ellyse Perry when she rushed to the boundary to check the well being of the boy who was hit by Perry’s shot after getting deflected of a chair.

The medical staff first examined the young boy before taking him to the hospital for further observations. Perry had a brilliant time with the bat, as she remained unbeaten on 91 runs.

“It’s never nice to see someone gets hit in the head particularly with a cricket ball, I was really concerned because it hit him pretty hard,” Perry said. I hope he’s OK, he seems like a tough cookie and his parents and medical staff were around him looking after him, but it’s not nice to see,” the 27-year-old cricketer said after the match.

“I just caught sight of it when it landed, hit the concrete and kick up and hit him in the face. It’s coming pretty hard, and it’s a hardball, so I think your immediate reaction is to see if he’s OK,” she further mentioned.

The incident took place when the Sydney Sixers dispatched Melbourne Renegades all parts of the ground, as they posted 242 for the loss of four wickets, a domestic T20 record.

Perry’s unbeaten 91 kept the run-rate moving for the Sixers, but the bulk of the runs were getting scored by Ashleigh Gardner, who played an outstanding 47-ball century in an innings totalling 114 runs with the help of 10 sixes.

The Sixers’ big hitting came as no surprise to Perry, who credited the growing professionalism and development of women’s cricket in Australia.
